About Us

The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers was founded in 1985 by a group of individuals dedicated to spreading Eastern social songs and dances of the Wampanoag Nation to the public.  The Singers & Dancers are represented by the communities of Aquinnah, Mashpee, & Herring Pond.  Accompanied by hand-crafted rattles and a water drum, each dance is fully narrated. The singers strongly encourage audience participation and prefer to dance with the people, not for the people.

Mission:

Educating by the sharing of our cultural of traditional dancing and songs with use of rattles and water drums. “We are the People of the First Light”
